Some people still not aware of the actual name of the Gurudwara golden temple. Golden temple is the call for the coating of golden color; otherwise, this gurudwara is on the name of Harmandir Sahib Ji, also known as Darbar Sahib Ji.

Delhi to Amritsar by Volvo Overnight Journey
We had started our journey from the Red Fort, Old Delhi, approx. 11:00 pm, and Volvo took 8 hrs ( 450 Kms ). To drop us at the Volvo stand in Amritsar from there, we had hired auto Rikshaw, who had charged us around 150 for seven members, and the Volvo stand to our hotel was around 3 Kms only. We’d booked our hotel near jalebi chowk, which is quite famous and you can taste the different meals there from the evening tonight.
We did check-in and rest till 2 pm.
Lunch at Khubi Ram Halwai
Everyone was hungry and looking for food, and we had avoided tasting the menu at the hotel we’d tried some street food which is famous in Amritsar.
We went to Khubi ram halwai for lunch and ordered samosa and chole bhature with Lassi. If you are coming the first time, Amritsar doesn’t forget to taste a lassi. Because it’s a specialty of Amritsar, you cannot say the food was hygiene,
But yes, it was yummy. I had shared a video clip above and you can understand the local area of the golden temple and exterior market.

Decide to visit Golden Temple at Night.
It was sharp sunshine when we came out of the sweets shop, and we had decided to visit the Darbar Sahib Ji at night. Meanwhile, we went to visit Jallianwala Bagh. It was just 5 minutes walkable from the sweets shop, and The Jallianwala Bagh is the most prominent landmark in Amritsar.
Because it is the place where Indian people had decided to jump into the well to avoid killed by British army bulletin 1919. The nowadays complete area had converted into the park and museum.
Glimpses of the hole by bullets of British Army
You can still see an overview of the gap by British government bullets in the pictures below. Even when you will visit the place, you may find it next to well.
Return to hotel for relax
After the visit to Jallianwala Bagh, we all went to the hotel for some relaxation because we had to visit the Golden Temple at night.
Darbar Sahib Ji Looks Beautiful at Night
I had only seen the golden temple in the pictures. Before I visited this temple at night, it looks more beautiful live than in photos, because of the golden coating over the Gurudwara. The Gurudwara is in the middle of Sarovar (hold tank), and you need to visit the gurudwara before 11:00 pm. Because after that main darbar door has closed for the public.
Langar at the Darbar Sahib
I hope every India knows that Gurudwara is the only place in all over the world where nobody can sleep without eating food. There are 24X7 facilities of Langar (Prasad) in the Golden temple.
Morning view of Golden Temple
We decided to darshan again in the morning before leaving to Wagah Border and home still there was sharp sunshine, but we were eager to visit again. Maybe it was a call of God to us. But this time, our foot was burning due to ground heat.
There was a long-distance line and we had waited out there approx 1 hour for the darshan of Darbar Sahib Ji, and on the other end, the serviceman of Gurudwara keep throwing water on the floor to make it chill for the devotees.
In my view, the Sikh community is the only one in India and abroad who come first to help the people. As today all the temples are closed due to the Carona Virus pandemic. But still, Sikh Community is making the food for hungry people and serving them.
After the darshan of Darbar sahib, we had tasted the “Dal ka laddu” it’s an Indian snack; usually, in other cities, the size remains small, but in Punjab, you will get it a large quantity of laddu.
Way to Wagah Border to Golden Temple
Wagah Border is one of the major attractions in Delhi to Amritsar Golden Temple Tour. Because at the Atari border Indian and Pakistan army every day celebrate the beating ceremony. It’s about 40 Km from the golden temple.
Hired a Car
We had hired a Tavera for the seven-person to reach the border. He had charged us INR 200 for each person to pick up and drop to Wagah border.
Pleasured to enjoy the ceremony at Atari
I was avoiding to visit the Wagah Border ceremony due to sharp sunshine. But it was my mistake, and my friend insists on me.
Then I went there. Our driver had dropped us till the parking area after that approx. We had to walk because of security reasons vehicles not allowed. We all had been checked by the Indian army before entry to parade ground.
No chairs and seats at the Wagah Border Ceremony
It was my first experience of visiting the ceremony, and I was expecting that there would be chairs to sit in the parade ground everybody has to sit on the stones stairs. It was heating a lot, and I finally used my handkerchief to sit over it.
Colossal Crowd in the Ground and Encouraging to India
I had never seen live to around 10 thousand people to sing the national anthem “Vande Matram.” Today whenever I rethink about all the memories. I feel that I am lucky a lot to live in India.
Nobody can forget this soldier.
I think approx. Ten thousand people visit the ceremony every day, and there was a soldier in the middle of the ground. Who was encouraging to the people in the stadium to say “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Matram” He didn’t stop in 1 hour to say all this.
The Beginning of Ceremony
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Indian army called to ladies for the dance and flying the national flag on the ground, approximately 200 to 500 ladies stand line. One by one lady army officer sends them to flying an India flag.
Timing of Ceremony
It takes one hour to complete the whole process from 05 pm to 06 pm. Timing may differ in the winter period.
Sada Pind On the way to the hotel
While returning from the beating ceremony, we saw a glimpse of Sada Pind. There you may enjoy Punjab culture. We could not stop there for a long time because we had a Volvo for returning to Delhi on 11 pm. We reached the hotel and packed our bags for moving towards the restaurant near Khubi Ram Halwai for the Dinner.
Taste of Punjab at Vaishno Dhaba
We all want to eat some spicy and unique dishes from Punjab, which we never had earlier in Delhi. My wife had already visited the Amritsar. So she suggested we eat at the Vaishno Dhaba. Because the Dhaba has all kinds of variety in Kulcha (Indian stuff bread).
Price of Kulcha at Vaishno Dhaba
I was shocked to hear that each Kulcha price was just INR 40 for each piece of kulcha. But it should be more costly than they were charging us. Because it was mouth-watering kulcha, and they had also served Chole and vinegar mixed onion.

After all, we did some shopping from the golden temple market area, and we all went to the Volvo bus stand for the Amritsar to Delhi bus.
